Read some helpful reviews of StorageMart at 334 SW 8th Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

5'x5' means almost 5'x5'. Boo In addition there's a large beam going through the wall, sticking out into the unit space, meaning that boxes will be pushed away from the wall to start with. Boo. Floor in the unit is smeared dry mud. Customer service promised it would be cleaned before I got my stuff in. I left the unit empty and unlocked for over a week. Still messy. I should probably mention that driving though the parking lot feels like a sure way to get a flat tire. Zero respect to customers is how I feel. In addition a supposedly small billing issue of wrong charges won't resolve even after numerous phone calls. CS is super nice but incredibly useless. They seem to understand the issue, promise to fix but wrong charges keep coming. For real? ... Read more

I have had such a great experience with Alissa at this location. She is so willing to go above and beyond for our needs. I have used many other storage facilities and this one, to my surprise is safe and warm making it easy to move the things needed to run business smoothly. Thank you Alissa for all of your help! ... Alissa has been great to work with! She has gone above and beyond to help meet our needs - and we're pretty needy as a storage unit renter, lol. We would greatly love and benefit from the office being open on Thursday's but at the moment, we do all we can to work around this minor inconvenience. The units and facility are clean and have easy access for our large vehicles and large deliveries. Thank you, Alissa, for all your help and support the last couple of months! ... Read more

When I went in to get more information about renting a storage unit, Angie was such a big help! She was patient with me as I went over some options and she gave me her opinion on a storage solution I was struggling with. She was so kind and helpful! Thanks to her, I feel more confident in my decision to obtain a storage unit. Her kindness truly made my entire week! Angie was full of knowledge and easy to work with. She made my StorageMart experience a 10/10! ... Read more

When I went in this morning, (January 30) I was greeted by a lovely smile on Angie's face! She helped me with renting a storage unit from her place of business (Storage Mart in downtown Des Moines). She was awesome and if I were to meet the staff there for the first time again, I'd pick her ... Read more

The instructions on check in were incorrect, nobody was there during office hours, our unit has doctor pepper opened and sprayed all over it because the units are open fenced to the main hallway, and the air conditioning wasn't working. Update: They have moved us to a nearby unit to avoid the spilled soda, however they would not tell me the humidity content of the building and stated "Temperature is set to 76-78 in the building." which is far too hot for most personal items and furniture! I would say this facility is not suitable to most storage needs Knowing that it is too hot and that anyone could ruin our items by simply throwing a soda on top of the fenced roof of our unit has us leaving this facility before ever moving in! ... Put our move out date the 28th, went in yesterday had half my storage cleared and came back to find it was locked. Called cooperate office and was told to wait till the next day for management to come look at it. My unit was paid in full. Also to find out they went through my storage unit, things were moved around after we left. So glad to be moved out. ... Read more

I have contacted the person in the office personally when I paid my rent last time. I told her that I couldn’t afford the constant rent increases and she said that there was nothing that could be done about that. That every rental agreement is a monthly agreement and that it was company policy to keep raising the rent ... Read more

I pay my rent two months ahead every time. In the last year I have not been late but they keep raising my rent about every three months or so. I am a bit perturbed by this situation because I am a great renter who doesn’t have any money to keep having my rent raised. I’m on a fixed income and am looking to move out of cube smart and take my stored assets elsewhere ... Read more

DO NOT USE THEM .... CS increased my rate 25% after only having my unit for three months citing an increase in the rate. After only three months??? I moved most of my stuff in and budgeted the monthly expense. Now I am living half way across the country and there is not much I can do. The manager doesn't do anything and couldn't even escalate my concern to his supervisors. He gave me the number to his supervisors, Christine and Becky, and they do not answer and are not responding to my voicemail. This place does bait and switch. Just because that's your rate today DOES NOT mean it will be even close to that rate just three months later. ... Read more

Been there over a year and I have never had any bad experiences . I changed my rating from 4 to a 5 because management has been very good about everything. Two days ago they were even out spraying the minimal weeds growing up between some of the small cuts that are put in the concrete to stop cracks from spreading. The place is always clean and in all honesty I meant to give 5 stars and accidentally hit 4. ... Read more

The only part that may not have lived up to the billing was the climate control. Our space on the second floor was not as cool as we thought it would be (I had seen information on the Cubesmart web site that mentioned temperatures were kept in the range of 68 to 72 degrees). It was more like upper 70's with noticeable humidity during the summer. We were storing a piano so temperature control was important. On the other hand, the temperature/humidity was certainly better than a storage space that had no climate control. For everything else (access to the building, security, convenience, customer service, cleanliness, etc.), Cubesmart worked well for us. We stored some household goods and furniture in our space as well. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that StorageMart - 334 SW 8th Street has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by StorageMart - 334 SW 8th Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 24 to 660 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by StorageMart - 334 SW 8th Street come at a variety of prices, starting from $29 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $256 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
