Water Leaking, or Humidity Destruction Do NOT get a unit on the 1st floor, at least one that shares a wall with the exterior of the building. I’ve just opened boxes of antiques that have basically rusted for no reason. One mattress was destroyed, but that was completely uncovered, so that’s on me. The rest of what I’m seeing infuriates me. I have a 100 year old typewriter of my grandfather’s that was stored in one of their units for 7 months that is now heavily rusted. No idea how that happened. It spent 45 years uncovered in an attic and nothing like this ever happened. ... Read more

This is the BEST Public Storage location in Chicago and also much better than the ones in New York City. The size, the price, the location had me utilize my unit for seven years! Lol…Most importantly, customer service is excellent. Bill was friendly and helpful during phone calls from NYC (when I was late with payments) and now, very helpful during my checkout. I should also add that all the other agents are the same: friendly, courteous & helpful. I highly recommend this location! Thank you so much. Good-bye Chicago! ... Read more

I have rented a storage space from Public Storage for almost 10 years. I recently needed to merge some of my things from another outside storage unit and have transferred everything into one unit. Bill could not have been nicer and patient with me making this all easier! Making life easy! Thank you Bill! ... Read more

I was happy to be greatly assisted by Jackie, the property manager at River Grove, IL public storage facilities this week. She notified me that i missed my January rent and she quickly took my payment over the phone as well as put me on auto payment so that i don't miss the due date in the future. She waived the late fee and i was grateful and relieved. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
