Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

This is a scam. I reserved a 4' by 10' unit, but when I got there with a car full of stuff, the unit was 6' off the ground and only 3 or 4' tall. None of that was communicated ahead of time. I was supposed to load the unit using a flimsy rolling step ladder. This wasn't going to work with furniture. The staff switched units for me, but charged 2x as much, refused to guarantee the price wouldn't go up, and even had the audacity to charge a transfer fee. They kept claiming it is corporate that makes them do it and that its not their decision. I don't believe them. One month after I moved in they raised the rent 50%. 3 months later they raised the rent another 50%. Besides the dishonesty about the price, the facility is just not very good. There are homeless people living inside the building. The place is filthy, smells awful, and has mice. There is no loading dock. The loading and unloading zone is awkward and can only comfortably fit a couple cars at a time. There is usually only one cart for the whole facility outside of the office hours. The elevator doors close almost immediately after opening and an alarm goes off if you prop the doors open. It's really not worth it. Just avoid it. If you think you are getting a better deal here than other storage units around, it is because they are lying to you. ... Read more

I was so pleased to get help from Paula at the 1541 Ridgely St in Baltimore. She worked with Sam at my store 7130 E Furnace Branch Rd in Glen Burnie and was able to lower the rent on my unit. Things have been rough taking care of my father in law and with the high cost on the storage we just have not had time to go through things. Luckily Paula was able to take a look and help me with getting the lower cost as it helps with how much things cost! Thank you so much for your help Paula!!! ... Read more

Space was clean and ready for move in. Most of the staff is very professional and supportive. They are always short on moving carts they say there is 8 I have never seen 8 usually 2-3 and sometimes none or you have to go looking for them. I couldn't give a 5 because or their payment schedule and refusal to adjust it to meet peoples needs like when there pay day is. They go up on there rentals too often but they are close and easily accessible. ... Read more

I booked a room here, but I wanted to see if there was enough space. This morning, I went to the warehouse to have a look. I politely asked for help from a customer service agent, a white lady with glasses. Unexpectedly, she responded to me very impatiently and told me to leave because she needed to lock the door. I felt very uncomfortable, as if I was discriminated against. I am a loyal customer here and I have rented with your company for more than three years. I really don't understand what I did wrong to be treated like this. This employee should be retrained because her behavior may have a negative impact on the reputation of your company! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
