Unfortunately, I have not had a good experience. After having our things in there for a couple months, we were sadly disappointed and disgusted when we opened the door to get our things out. There was rat/mice droppings and urine all over our furniture. We had to throw out some pieces of furniture. I did ask for some sort of compensation, and the owner was unwilling. His response was “…it was decided that mice are something that are completely out of our control. The contract clearly states that Abbott Road Mini Storage is not responsible for damage to any contents in the unit.” There was even some mold growing on the back of a full length mirror. This is my second summer here. While I didn’t have this particular problem last year, like one of the other reviewers, last year they locked me out after driving two hours to get my daughters stuff out of the storage unit to get her ready for school. My credit card that was set up for auto pay to pay the storage unit monthly was compromised and I forgot to call them to give them the new credit card number. I didn’t realize it until I showed up and my code was denied. I offered every option under the sun to pay them right then and there (Another credit card, a check in the mailbox, cash in the mailbox, anything to get in) But again the owner was unwilling and unhelpful. The manager was nice and kept going to the owner to ask questions but, the owner not so much. If you have other options, choose those. ... Read more

Unless you live in the area, renting a unit from here is extremely inconvenient. They don't have a way for you to make payments remotely, so you must send a check through the mail or pay in person. If you're even 1 day late with your payment, you will be automatically locked out of the gate and unable to access your unit. I drove 2 hours to access my unit, my payment was processing, but I was still locked out. I called the emergency number for help with the gate but he said he couldn't give me another code, he was out of town, and I was essentially out of luck. It was horrible customer service and I am excited to finish doing business there after this month. I did give 1 star because the unit itself was clean and kept my things dry and safe. ... Read more

It's a basic bare bones U-Store-It place. You can see a lot of opportunities to spend $100 and fix something, which the owner has clearly decided are not worthwhile. Long unpaved driveways past the units which are always muddy for want of a few truck loads of gravel. They don't actually cheat you. But their standard practice is not to send a notice when your rent is due - they wait and send a late notice once they've earned the late payment fee. I paid in advance for a year and made the mistake of thinking they would send me a notice when the next year's rent was due. Silly me. It"s things like that that earn them three stars. ... Read more

When I pull in, the woman that works here gives me dirty looks and runs inside as soon as I get out of the car. When I meet her inside, she asks me what I need. I tell her I was interested in renting a truck, and she tells me "I don't appreciate you doing donuts in my parking lot. I don't need any trouble." She follows up with "the guy that rents out the trucks isn't here, so you'll have to wait until he gets back." Whoa whoa whoa! Back up here. What in the world are you talking about? I drive a loud car, but I didn't kick up any dust, peel out, or do donuts like this woman had said. I'm here to rent a truck, not do donuts in your junky parking lot full of potholes and loose gravel. I'd probably do more damage to my car than anything. Anyway, long story short, the gentleman that works here came back, and he was helpful... but this lady... she needs to stay in her back office and not speak with customers since she has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. They also charge more than U-Haul (20 cents/mile more for the same size truck), and you'll be lucky if they have a truck available for you to use. ... Read more
