Editing a previous review to include the bussinesses response on the BBB: See below. Pros: space is clean, air conditioned, on-site staff is friendly. Cons: price increases. Location access might close without notice. In July, my fiance and I attempted to retrieve our belongings from our storage unit. We took off work, booked an Amtrak from Westchester, rented a truck, and hired movers. Upon arrival, we discovered a sign on the door stating that the keypad was broken and the facility was entirely inaccessible. We were shocked, as we had received no email, phone call, or alert, and the website listed no changes to hours or access. Nobody was there to let customers inside the facility during normal operating hours and managers were unreachable. We had to drive back 3 hours in an empty Uhaul. This trip cost us over $600. Reached out, they offered us a month's rent free, but will not help out with costs incurred. Additionally, we would not need another month if we were able to move out when we originally planned to. MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS: W received notification that the rear entry keypad malfunctioned and stopped working properly. Since this was a holiday weekend, no vendor was able to fulfill a service call, so we attempted to complete the repairs ourselves. Unfortunately, our repair attempts were unsuccessful. Due to this, when the tenant, ***, arrived at the facility on Sunday July 6th she was unable to access the building through the rear entrance point. When the store manager discovered the situation with *****, we immediately apologized for the inconvenience, explained to them that the office was closed due to the holiday and offered a free month’s credit towards her account which in turn would allow the tenant to have more time to remove their items without occurring any further charges. This offer was accepted by ****. Please note, Section 24 of the tenants signed lease agreement states: 24. NO WARRANTIES: No expressed or implied warranties are given by Owner or any of its respective agents, employees, or affiliates as to the suitability of the Space for Occupant’s intended use. Owner disclaims and Occupant waives any implied warranties of suitability or fitness for a particular use. The agents and employees of the Owner are not authorized or permitted to make any warranties about the Space, or any storage Facility referred to in this Agreement. The Owner’s agents’ and employees’ oral statements do not constitute warranties and shall not be relied upon by Occupant. The entire Agreement and understanding of the parties hereto are embodied in this writing and no other warranties are given. Occupant acknowledges that neither Owner nor Owner’s agents or employees have made any representations or warranties, either express or implied, as to the safety of the Space, the Facility, or property stored in the Space and/or Facility, or otherwise, and that neither Owner nor Owner’s agents or employees shall be required to provide any security protection to Occupant or the Occupant’s property stored in the Space and/or at the Facility. Any security which Owner maintains is for Owner’s sole use and convenience and may be discontinued by Owner at any time without liability or notice to Occupant or any other party. Was scared to death to put my belongings in storage! Not anymore after being referred to ValuSpace by Ortiz Transportation Inc. Tiffany the manager helped make this happen and literally within minutes! And in the middle of my move! I was scared I was going to have nothing once I called to confirm my storage with Uhaul in Clifton Park and they completely dropped the ball on me mid move with the movers moving all of my stuff. I highly highly recommend ValuSpace! Tiffany the manager helped make my experience absolutely incredible! She deserves a raise! The place is super clean, extremely accessible and smells phenomenal! I was absolutely beyond super impressed and will always use them if I ever need more storage down the road! ... Read more

Space was great but beware!! Cheap to start - but price kept going up and up and up! I felt trapped. I kept being told the raises were necessary for rising costs and demand, but new units are still advertised for the same prices I started with (for new customers only). It seems like an effective (but lousy) business model to lure people in. The facility, temp, access, people, and everything else were great! Always clean, proper, and working well. No pests, good lights, covered loading area, and temp and humidity always as promised. If the price stayed the same I'd probably still be there, but I feel like I fell for a trap. Once your in it's hard to leave and incremental raises are just low enough that it feels not worth the hassle each time. After a couple years (2-3) it was up ballpark 50% from like $90 to $155 for a 10x10 climate unit (which is actually 9.5x9.5, the walls are counted). That's a lot higher than inflation! Sure wish my income would go up 50% every 2-3 years! Thank you Valuspace for the service and space both top notch - but the business model of all large chain's self storage is of course unfavorable to the customers. This was the Halfmoon NY location. ... Read more

Prices have gone up twice in two months for existing customers. Paying over $30 more a month now for a 5x10 than a new customer would if they bought today. They claim the price increase is necessary but the new customer price stays the same. Essentially if you want to pay the best price you'd have to move units every few months. ... Read more

Guys, you are AMAZING! I stopped at 1-st in Clifton park, then in Brunswick, ny. One place and even the service is better than another! I have always had a great experience with ValuSpace! I used them a few years back and I’m now renting a bigger storage unit. The building is always super clean and so are the storage spaces. Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At ValuSpace Personal Storage - 1607 Route 9, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 1607 Route 9 for specific restrictions and recommendations.
