Read some helpful reviews of Monmouth Mini Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

In the year that I rented a unit here I only interacted with the owner three times. Every single time this man was clearly intoxicated, once at 10am. Slurring his words, not making sense, and in general being irrational. His father owns the place and it is very clear that he does not have an ounce of responsibility for the business. I blatantly asked him if he had ever read the contract that he has everyone sign and he said he has never read it. Not a good person and an even worse business owner. ... Read more

This is a great place to rent a unit. I just got word that the individual that over saw everything out there has passed away. It is still a great facility but please be patient while the newcomer is taking over the responsibilities on site. She is very approachable. ... Read more

Monmouth Mini Storage is the best place to keep your material items safe and sound. ?? Clear the clutter in your home today, tomorrow, or Spring cleaning time. ?? Anything last seen/used over 5 years ago.... ?? donate it, ?? recycle it, let it go! Keep the rest locked up ?? and away in a storage unit you rent. Be good humans!! ?? ... Read more

At first I was very pleased with the customer service and willingness to accommodate. My husband and I had our storage unit for 3 months. We had preaggranged a smaller unit, when we got there, they had all been rented without our knowledge. We ended up having to get a larger unit for a higher amount per month. When we went to retrieve our belongings from the unit, I didn't notice anything unusual. However, once I brought my things into my home and started unpacking I noticed a large amount of rat droppings, chew marks and started clothing. I called to let them know they had a rat infestation. The more boxed i unpacked the more damage and rat droppings I noticed. I called the storage unit and asked for a rental refund due to damages within his control. He stated "sorry I can't do anything about your damaged belongings. You signed a contract". I informed him that according to his contract, it states that he is not responsible for damages out of his control, however, a rodent infestation IS in his control. He refused to refund even part of my rent. So now I get to replace 40% of my belongings. unforuntaley i cannot replace the baby books, photos, and babys firsts items, and that is truley heart breaking. We are very hurt by the lack of compassion and ownership. This is not somewhere I would willing store my previous belongings. Renters beware. *we had no food, spices or sweets of any kind in our unit* ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Monmouth Mini Storage - 555 Gwinn Street East, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

  • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
  • Perishable food
  • Live plants or animals
