Read some helpful reviews of SecureSpace Self Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Super aggressive follow up for reviews. I’m not a review or online person but after three phone calls and three texts and only opening the unit 3 days ago I wanted it to stop. That’s pretty annoying. Other than that the facility is clean, staff helpful and kind, prices so far are good. We will see if that continues after a few months. Gets busy and parking was full my second time. I don’t even have that much to review. Sign up was easy after they answered phone and Marvin was very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. ... Read more

SecureSpace is so clean and tidy, I really like the space and the people who helped me check in. I'm a little frustrated that the original size I chose was too small for my purposes so within 24 hours I switched up...I had to pay the admin fee all over again, which, while may be policy, sucks, so not inclined to use the company again, if given a choice. Also, stopped by last night at 5 pm (Sunday) to add something to the space. Not only was there no parking (all spaces taken for over 25 minutes), there were no carts...I dragged a dresser and drawers in by myself, while parked 50 ft away from the door. This is not ideal for $60 a month. I want to know that I can go at any time (during appropriate hours) and be able to park nearby and easily access my space instead of having to weave in between cars, and jerry rig a transportation system to get my stuff in my space. ... Nice and clean storage spaces. It would be nice if there was more loading / unloading area, the lot and dock can get pretty full. The office employees were really friendly and helped get me into my new unit I rented online, even though I couldn't get there until 5 minutes before closing. It only took about 5 minutes to get everything handled. ... Read more

Renting storage spaces has never been so easy. I was accepted well during the rental process. And I even received a phone call letting me know that I had left my ID at their office. The prices were great, the facility very clean, and the staff very polite and professional. Highly recommend them. ... Read more

Charles at Secure Storage is a 10/10! After a truly frustrating and unprofessional experience at a nearby competitor, finding Secure Storage was a massive relief and an absolute pleasure. From the moment we walked in, the difference was night and day, all thanks to the representative, Charles. He was friendly, genuine, and immediately to the point. Dealing with a tired two-year-old, we appreciated his efficiency. He quickly understood our needs, provided all the necessary information, and never once made the process feel like a complicated sales pitch—which was a welcome change! Not only was the unit cheaper than what we were being offered elsewhere, but the entire facility was air-conditioned, and the process was so streamlined we were in and out in less than an hour. Charles, thank you for making what is typically a tedious task so easy and tolerable. Your professionalism, genuine approach, and ability to honor the online pricing quickly made this a perfect experience. You are an outstanding employee and a true asset to Secure Storage. To anyone looking for a storage unit: Stop looking now and go straight to Secure Storage. Ask for Charles! He is the guy who will make sure you get exactly what you need quickly, with a great rate, and without any unnecessary hassle. You won't regret it! ... Read more

On the phone, Jackie was very helpful and found me a space that fit my needs. It made it such an easy part of the often drama-fraught process of Moving House. When I arrived to finalize the paperwork and see the space, Charles was very personable, patient, and kind. His orientation tour for my unit, and the best way to access it, was thorough and thoughtful. When there were three of us customers waiting for his attention, he remained focused and attentive to each of us in turn. Physically, the buildings are clean, spacious, and well lit. The unloading bays are graciously roofed and protected from the elements. I'm so happy I won't be parking on the street to load or unload my bits and boxes while other customers are crowding in for the same space with their cars and trucks, trying to do the same! ... When dealing with the stress and chaos of a move or storing items long term…. Or both… this place was by no means an added stress! I actually found my self enjoying my visits to the unit as a pause during the chaos. The facility is so clean and easy to navigate. I saw several staff walking around to keep an eye on things and CHARLES was the most helpful when making the reservation! I am beyond satisfied that I decided to go with Secure over all the *immense amount of options*?? ... Read more

Looks nice, but been nothing but a letdown. My family moved our stuff here a couple years ago after a previous place got too expensive. Initial impression was fairly good. Price was decent, facility was new. But it's been pretty disappointing since. First - our rent has more than doubled in 2 years. Incremental increases are expected, but the last couple hikes have been ridiculous. But then the value for the money has been low too. For a few months the elevator wasn't working on our side of the building, leaving anything larger in our unit nearly inaccessible. There are never utility carts. More than once I've shown up when I should have access but due to varying issues it was closed, and meanwhile I was there with a borrowed truck and stuff to unload. We are shopping elsewhere and I recommend you do too. ... Read more

NEGATIVE 5 STARS This place is 100% a scam. Raised rent by 70% three months in. Was then robbed with little to no cooperation from company. Wouldn’t give me corporate’s number. Absolute nightmare. Just leave your stuff outside, it’s less likely to get stolen. ... Read more

After 5+ years renting my units from Secure Space, for both business and personal needs, I really have seen a lot! Over time I developed a unique perspective on the culture and priorities of this company as well as what goes down on-sight. Today (March 5, 2025) I am adding that insight to the pool of mixed reviews in order to highlight a noticable shift that has taken place over the last several months, the improvements happening since manager Liz Neimier came on-board. I'm on sight at the Columbia location multiple times throughout the week and I must say these one-star reviews do have validity. However, and to my pleasant surprise, it appears the company leadership took heed to the things being said and responded, investing in a quality manager. Im happy to see they were giving merit to customer feedback and made at least one of the critical changes I would have suggested~ because Liz Neimein was an excellent hire. For those who had the worst experiences with this company I would encourage you to check back if you need another space. It appears company culture and best practice are improving. This may be over the top with praise for a Google review, but for those of us who stuck it out through years of meh, or worse!.. Liz represents a 180° turn to sunshine. She is consistently professional, competent and responsive. Gone is the former vibe of petty power tripping, non-responsive stare-downs with customers and blasé attitude regarding security concerns. Liz takes her position and the needs of customers seriously. As such she's cultivating a great team with Charles and the other gal (pardon) that reflect those values. Secure Space really levelled up with Liz and she is raising the bar on what one can expect when doing business with this company. I believe the company saw their customers disappoinments held merit and hired the right person to turn it around. Its a big job. Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere is commendable. I dont handle challenging situations nearly as graceful. But its her proactive approach to problem-solving that makes me think the future experience for customers is only going to improve. Her professionalism and dedication shine through in every interaction, even on her busiest days. Having said that, I cant ignore the heavy demands placed on this position. In my opinion as an employer, its evident that her workload could be taxing and would benefit from additional support. I suggest Secure Space continue investing in quality staff, security in particular. I have hope this company has turned a corner and we will see good things play out in the year ahead. Especially if they make sure their best people aren't being overwhelmed. Thank you Liz! Your hard work and consistent efforts do not go unnoticed. I sincerely hope the S.S. ownership team recognizes and rewards the value you've brought to this facility. Warm regards, Aurora Eklund ... Read more

You had ONE JOB! You failed to do it TWICE! The second time I was broken into was far more damaging as they got sensitive documents and I've been suffering ID theft since then. After the second time, they insulted me with telling me I had to then pay an additional fee for a Tenant protection plan of $25 a month to have protection they didn't provide "TWICE" in the first place!. Needless to say I moved to a different "SECURE" facility. I was also told at the time that 25 break ins occurred around the time of my break in. Nice to be told such. The pictures show the place can be easily entered and nothing stops people from sneaking in. Units can be looked in from the top of the unit. If you value your items do not store with them! I'm sure this review won't make their web page of (payed for) 5 star reviews! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
