Beware of 'promotional' prices. You can only sign a month to month contract (no long term to lock in rate). I rented a large, climate controlled storeroom at 2 different locations. After 3 months they raised the price by $100 on each storeroom. This is the second time this has happened. They offer a low price when so many units are available, then jack the price up. I literally had to move from one location to another to get lower price back. Plus, your unit price may be far higher depending on location. In my opinion, deceptive trade practices. ... Read more

I went to move in and found a layer of red dust covering the floor of my unit. Come to find out the main building flooded over a year ago and the dust is from the water lines bursting. I was told that the company won't pay to have the units cleaned, but I can move my stuff to another unit. Which would require me to rent another truck since some of my items are too heavy to be rolled through the parking lot. In the end I brought a broom, then made a second trip for a mop, and was able to clean the red dust myself, in like 10 minutes. So not only does Public Storage require you to pay for insurance, one of their locks, and of course the monthly fee, but you also have to clean their messes as well. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
