So before I rent a storage unit I always look at the reviews. And I suggest every one does.i always start with the worst reviews and work my way up to the best. As I was reading the reviews in the lowest section something caught my eye. It was from one of their customers named Gail Orendorff. She rated this facility a 1 star. And explained that they had raised the rent on her there without proper notification.But what caught my eye was the response from the owner ..He said "Thanks for the five star review.we appreciate you as a customer".. Im a psychiatrist with a masters from N.Y.U... THIS RESPONSE was pure sarcasm from the owner ,his way of saying he does not care about your review "I got your money and there's nothing you can do about it"..This behavior on his part shows immaturity and carelessness and is bad buisness and poor management. Im glad I didn't rent from them . This awareness let's me know im dealing with a narcissist and a unfit buisness man. Yeah I agree with Mrs. Gail this place would probably not be a healthy choice to rent from and should be reported to the better buisness beurul..These facilities are usually leased out 3rd party from a corporation i suggest people reach out to corporate and file a complaint against this individual as he is the owner.is not the businesses fault I rented from extra space in spokane wa. And I had a great experience. But that was there..this one is terrible and corporate should investigate this owner to uphold its reputation. You can't blame the company for one bad Apple.and this gentleman with his sarcastic response is definitely a bad apple and should not be in charge of anything..another review I read was on a person losing Halloween supplies she place in her unit .and mentioned repairs to the unit.This is a civil matter and my recommendations is you file suit. You have up to two.years to do so by the way. The filing fee is 400 dollars but you can ask to be paid that back in the settlement if every thing you said is true .my wife's a lawyer so being this is a property crime you should file a police report ,do a inventory of the items and then file..the RCW. For camera retention is limited to 90 days minimum. If this buisness told you their footage only goes back 3 weeks , then they are lieing to cover up the obvious. Or they are not following the retention code .which either or still makes them responsible..and all these storage facilities require their customers to have insurance. Everyone at the Covington location have been great!!! Great layout and the whole process was seamless! The only complaint is no, they wouldn’t help move my stuff! ?? WHAT I DID NOT KNOW: on one of the days I was there, the manager David was there alone, handling everything for his location AND fielding all the phone calls for at least 2 other stores ( I think it was 3)! We were storing Halloween and Christmas decorations here and had several items go missing from our unit. We have filed a police report. The facility had requested a key to our unit so they could repair a neighboring unit. We were told the repair would be videotaped and that we did not need to worry about our belongings. The repair apparently happened on 8/6/2025. We went to get our Halloween decorations on 9/12/2025 and there are at least 5 large plastic tubs missing from our unit. I suggested maybe maintenance accidentally misplaced our things in the neighboring unit. I asked Extra Space if they had the video footage they said they would take, and they did not. They also only have security footage going back 3 weeks to 8/29/2025. We only access the unit a couple times a year so 3 weeks of video footage is not useful. The manager was extremely dismissive of the possibility that they accidentally misplaced our belongings and would not work with us to check. The alternative is that someone nefariously used our key (they were supposed to be securely storing), or forcibly entered our unit without our permission. I don’t know what happened, but I know our stuff was not kept safe. This was reported a week ago and I have yet to hear from the district manager. Clearly they do not take reports of missing items seriously. The customer service I experienced was inflammatory and unacceptable. We terminated our contract with them today. If you happen to find our Halloween decorations in your unit, let me know please! This was Unit B2111. Extra Space Storage is hands down the cleanest and the most well run storage facility I have ever known. I'm relatively new, like my first time. But there's always somebody answering the phone or in the office, they're super helpful and the price was great -unmatched at the time I rented. You should go. We rented this spot when we needed space to share with family. Loved it, never really had issues but we opted to stop renting because they kept jacking up the price. They upped it twice on us. We didn't even stay a year (8 or 9 months) and they upped it over $50+ from when we started it. Like look I get it space is in demand... but also get over yourself, it's Covington, stop price gouging consumers. The staff was really great! I mean, I felt like they must love what they’re doing and they take pride in what they do! I went in there to get a new unit, not only were they pleasant to interact with, but at the same time they were fast and so efficient that in about 10 minutes or so, I got what I needed! I mean this goes without saying that they didn’t pay me to say these things, nor will I be getting any discounts from them because I’m doing this review. From the very start of my first and current rental the staff has been amazing. Fast forward to today and I am renting a second unit next door to my current unit and MARLO, the associate working the leasing office has been PHENOMENAL. I could not have been more blessed than to have her handle everything for me over the phone. The process was so simple and fast. For an older woman with severe disabilities I could not have been in better hands. Thank You Marlo for all your help and please thank the rest of the staff for me for all their hard work and professionalism in the past as well.
