Read some helpful reviews of Storage Rentals of America, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I like the fair pricing and having an alternative to the big corporate conglomerates that have been buying out our local small business storage facilities. Then doing absolutely nothing to significantly hike up the prices. I once was a client of what is now an "Extra Cost Storage" . I was glad I found this place as it is realistic in keeping its price points low. The facility I am in is unmanned most of the time. There is no on-site office, but it is manageable by a nearby sister location. Whereas "Extra Cost Storage" tried justifying their price raising by claiming they hired more on-site presence, only to dismiss their staff later, but keep the price up. So we end up paying for more, while they deliver less. Storage Rentals of America, continue to help keeping the price points low for your consumers as this is what drew me to your facilities. ... Our unit was damaged by water and we lost a lot of belongings, we are trying to reach anyone and they don't want to pick up or just hang up on us. As other reviews have stated, it's dirty, the trash is always full and the fact that water got into the indoor units?? Many people are throwing away belongings. Some of my items are irreplaceable by loved ones who are not of this world anymore. I just want to leave this place and never come back. If you want a place with clear and easy communication, don't rent here! I'd give it 0 stars if I could. ... Read more

Save yourself time and a headache. Do not rent here. Along with numerous rental increase rates, the garbage is always full. The gate entry is always dirty with trash on the ground. Management is rarely available. The last 2 times we've called because both times we couldnt get into the gate, no one ever called us back. The first time management changed the gate access time from 6 am to 10 pm to 7 am to 7pm daily, without notifying us. As if there is staff at this location that need to be present. Its a self entrance self-service facility so why they limit you on times to access your belongings is beyond me. Needless to say I was denied access because the "facility " was closed and I was there between 8pm to 9pm. Although, the gate still had the 6am to 10 pm access hours on it. We never received a call back apologizing for the inconvenience or the failure to communicate the change in advance, just a notice in the mail of the change in gate access hours, a few days later. Again no return call. Fast forward to this past weekend and needing to grab some tables and chairs for an event we had, we pulled up to the gate, entered our code and couldn't get into the gate again. Its 2pm Sunday. The sign on the gate was altered w a black marker (very professional) to reflect the "new" hours 7am to 7 pm daily. When i called, to my surprise, someone actually answered the phone! (Thus the star rate of 2 instead of 1). Although the person who answered was nice enough, she really couldn't help me figure out why the gate wasn't opening. Instead of saying the gate was broken (date and time on key access was 3am for a date in 2016), she first tried to give me some override codes for the gate to open with no success. She placed me on a hold to see if she could get someone to help open the gate remotely, but came back and gave me a statement to make it sound as if I was outside facility hours. So when I asked a clarifying question of "are you telling me that besides the hours changing to 7am to 7 pm, we now have no access hours on Sunday?" At first she said yes but then after I fussed about where the communication is about these changes and why is there such a huge restriction on customers getting to their belongings, she said let me double check. I was placed on another hold. She then came back and said it was because there was no management available on site. When I explained there is never no management or staff on site at this location and questioned why that would matter, the explanation became it was because there was no management available for the day and because of that the site is closed. Moving forward, I guess I will have to call and request the vacation schedules for the management team, so that we can make appropriate plans to access the facility and get the things we may need in advance. Just a caution to anyone considering this site. Initially, years ago, it was not like this. I've been a customer for years and never had so many problems before until the past year. Not sure what's changing but its definitely going downhill. If you read some of the comments the good ones were years ago. The negative ones, you basically have to keep on management to get results. The person who complained about checks getting lost, so late fees can be added, is correct. Or invoices showing up w little preparation time, I believe it. We had to change from allowing our bank to send a check because one conveniently got "lost" after all this time, which created a late fee and a ton of confusion because no one knew how to explain it correctly until we actually spoke w upper management. Who by they way, conveniently had the situation happen w other customers when they allow their banks to pay the bill. Now we just pay online. ... Read more

Hi . When I received my storage unit. I was not able to get into the building and had to call . They charge me service 3/19/25 and customer service was going to contact the office to let them know. I have not gotten a call back the next day. To reach someone you have to go through a lot . Maybe I will get reimburse. Looks like I will reach out and check the status I then cancel my storage and was told that I would get all my refund and that they are sending an email I got a call back and now told They would keep 29.00 fee And only pro rate the rest. I did not move in yet. When I did finally go to the storage, door not easy lifting ?? it jam and got stuck. Also when speaking with customer service, they do not put that information in a email per staff there was no note of that . Twice I called and there was no noted of me calling. Please! Upgrade your communication With staff , kind people Bad communication Got 100 percent refund! Thank you ?? ... Read more

Temperature control storage does is kept at 35-45 degrees making paint and other temperature sensitive materials go bad, can not get a hold of anyone over the phone waiting on hover 30 minutes and they ended up merging my call with an other customer. For $350 a month you would think service would be better and the maintain the actual temperature that they claim 55 to 80 degrees not 35-45 ... Read more

It was so easy making a reservation online and with no payment! When I had to change the day reserved to the next day it was no trouble. I ended up taking care of everything on the phone. The facility is secured and spotless. They offer climate controlled units which I chose. I spoke with a woman first and I wish I could remember her name to give her a shot out! Very friendly and made the transaction smooth. The Manager Andrew was available on the phone the day of the move in and again, helped things go smoothly. Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Storage Rentals of America - 3645 West Loomis Avenue, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 3645 West Loomis Avenue for specific restrictions and recommendations.
