Warning: this location has a rodent and roach problem and is no longer 'climate controlled' in the way that one would expect. Your promotional price is extremely temporary and Storage Mart will jack up your monthly rate with little notice. This weekend we opened up our storage unit to a very strong stench of rodent urine. Our things were covered in it, along with rodent feces. The place was humid, items not sealed in plastic boxes were damp. We had not seen any of this in our unit 5 months prior on our last visit to the facility. After reading other reviews, it is clear that this location has struggled with rodent control and a leaking roof over the past 2 years and did not alert any of its customers so that precautions could be taken to protect items in storage. We are thankfully out of that unit and had to dispose of most of the stored items that couldn't be sanitized. ... I had been renting from this storage facility for 4 years (when it was still a Storage Master.) When StorageMart took over the price increased, and incrementally went up so much that by the time I was moving out I was paying nearly double the amount of when I originally began renting my unit. However, I have nothing but positive things to say about the employees here, especially Jackie, she is just so pleasant and helpful! The move in and move out process was super easy and simple, the facility is clean, security is great - I can’t complain about anything besides the price. ... Read more

I came to rent a unit here and was told 3 different prices in person vs. on the phone vs. online, followed by getting calls every single day trying to get me to sign up because "units are filling up fast". They also let me know on the phone that whatever pricing they gave now would change to an undisclosed amount after 4 months and continue to increase an unknown amount over time. This of course makes me uneasy knowing that I either have to accept whatever price they increase the rent to, or go through the process and expense of moving all of my things again to a different storage facility a few months down the line. Unfortunately, this was the closest option to me and I already have family renting here so it makes the most sense to move forward with it at least as a short term solution. The first time I came into the location to sign up, the attendant was not helpful at all, telling us she can sign us up but we're better off going online because she can't really help with any of the promotions (later found out this is not true). I did then sign up online where I was charged with a signup fee and a lock fee that were not disclosed ahead of submitting my payment info. My "first month free" ended up billing me $73 without showing me a final amount before running the card. The fees themselves aren't a problem, I do understand why they are charged but I wish there was more transparency in the process so that I know what amount I'm authorizing payment for. I also never received an email with the access code after signing up (they advertise 24/7 access) so we had to rush with our 26' moving truck to get to the office before the office closed. The saving grace of the whole experience was Tasha at the front desk who was very understanding, helpful and personable. She helped us understand what we were being billed for better than we could on the online portal, was able to upgrade us to a larger unit when we realized we were going to need more space, at the best price I've seen across the various platforms (phone, web, in-office) and patiently walked us through the entrances and exits, lock operation, etc even after the office had closed. She really turned the whole experience around for us and made sure we were comfortable and had the information we needed. The place itself is very clean and well-maintained. The access is simple once you have your assigned code and you do have 24/7 access to the building. Overall, the signup process and transparency in pricing really needs work. It feels scammy sorting through various different pricing on StorageMart's own platforms & being charged without any disclosure of the additional fees or payment structure first. It would also be great to have some consistency in the service received, as our two in-office experiences were wildly different. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that StorageMart - 307 West Layton Avenue has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by StorageMart - 307 West Layton Avenue can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 304 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
