Read some helpful reviews of Heartland Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Since this company took over, it's been a non stop nightmare. No one EVER answers the phone. I paid my rent in full, on time, and then received a notice that rent was late. After about 30 attempts, I finally got someone to pick up, explained the situation, and was assured that it would get resolved. Got to the shop today, and I'm locked out of my unit. Do yourself a favor, do NOT rent from GoStoreit. Customer service is non-existent. ... Read more

Since this out of state company took over, a few years ago, my rent has increased over 100%, for a 5x8, closet-sized unit . They also believe in the liberty to arbitrarily charge my bank account these ever increasing amounts without authorization ; no updated lease, no correspondence or the courtesy of a customer service staple,, a phone call !! I am moving out. So,,, be prepared to pay $121.00+ for a closet size 5x8 unit extrapolated up from there. . Also prepare to listen to irritating marketing advertisements on hold, if they actually pick up the phone, which is very rarely only once in the number of attempts I’ve had patience for They count on people not checking the amounts taken out via ACH w/o notice, expecting people to simply keep paying. This review is all truthful and I am done paying for a unit when I can rent one that’s 5 or 6 times as large (and I do) in Walworth county for $19.00 more, with a coded gate entry, and from a local family business, who answer the phone politely and don’t gouge local residents for whatever they believe they can get away with. The “relationship management “ business theory was obviously never learned, and is all but nonexistent here. There ARE much better options within a 10 min drive. Good luck ... Read more

My family currently has a unit at Heartland Storage in Lake Geneva, WI. Your site in LG is extremely unprofessional. Not only does no one answer the phone, the office hours are unreachable, and we are now unable to email the local office. The worst part is that our monthly unit rate went up $92, in two months with no prior knowledge. To which, we previously received notice via letters - when the monthly rate increased. There was no explanation of the price increase (we paid $429 in August, $402 in July, and $337 in May - for a 10 x 30), when the website under the newly acquired partner, Go Store It - advertises $185 for the same size unit. We have been loyal customers for over 2 years, and as a teacher in the community, I will be spreading the word on the horrible customer service and hikes in prices, taking your money (we use automatic withdrawal) with no warning. Find a better place to store your belongings and the rate below should be ZERO stars. ... Read more

I was able to call the office and get help with a unit. Then filled out everything online for the unit and then stopped in the office purchased a lock and got my unit. They are extremely helpful. And it’s right down the road which is nice. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
