This place is horrible and deserves 0 stars. I upgraded to the temperature control unit and paid more each month. In the short time I was there I noticed several mouse droppings all over my stuff. Keep in mind that all of my belongings were neatly and tightly wrapped and secured. I had a blanket and several pillows of mine that were eaten through by rodents. When I called management to share what happened they stated "oh that happens. There is nothing we can do." I was so disappointed as there were no apologies or any suggestions on how to remedy the situation. They told me I could put down traps or mice poison on my own time and dime. How is that a viable solution and why do I have to do this? I don't understand how this is in any shape or form an acceptable business practice for a storage facility. I've used many storage facilities over time and never once have I ever had any issues. After I terminated my agreement I was asked to clean the storage unit or I would be charged a fee. To avoid this i complied and found more droppings along with dead rodents, which I had to dispose of. I decided to take my belongings and business to a place that has treated me with proper care and respect. Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to have your items destroyed with mice. ... Rented a unit for almost a year. When it came time to unload, our items were unfortunately covered in mice waste and some items were destroyed. I want to point out that NO food of any kind was stored in the unit to attract the rodents. I had hoped that the business took precautions and units were treated to help prevent said disasters. Spoke with an employee and was told nothing could be done. Disappointed. ... Read more

My wife, kids & I just moved locally from Carpentersville to Gilberts. 18 Years ago we had far less stuff to account for - but then again we've added 3 kids, 2 cats and a dog. I called Kyle to reserve 2 units, similar to the size of my old garage so we could start clearing out my house to stage it. The flexibility of month to month was great, as we did not know how long it would take to sell/ buy a new place. We sold our house, but needed to move everything out before we had a move in date for the new place. The day before we needed to be out, we realized our 2 units were full - we needed a THIRD. This worked out great. I rented 2 units several months, and 3 units for 1 month. Thanks to Kyle Zange and Community Self Storage for being so flexible. ... Read more

I have rented from this place twice and it is great. First time I rented a 10x10 while moving, and I kept it for almost a year as additional storage for my work materials since it was in a great location around my service area. Second time I rented a 5x10 for another move. Never had any problems. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean and secure. I would definitely rent from here again for any storage needs. ... Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
