I thought I was paying for and renting, from a secured location. I thought I had peace of mind and didn’t realize I should be personally checking on my belongings, on a regular basis. My rent was increased a few months back, to a rate that is comparable to nicer locations that are a lot closer to where I live, but chose to stay at istorage. I went to drop a few things off at my unit today, which is allegedly secured, indoor and climate controlled. First off, the main gate to the facility was wide open with a closed office. Secondly, as I pull up to the climate controlled building that I am renting out of, I notice one of two doors boarded up with caution tape and the door and wall has roughly 30 or more bullet holes in it, and the access controls non functional, with the door wide open. The storage unit directly in front of the door is occupied and riddled with bullet holes. This tells me that the person renting this unit has bullet holes all over their belongings. I never received a phone call or email notification, explaining that the facility is non secured. Meanwhile, istorage has continued to charge my account and all tenants, full price for our units. This is completely unacceptable, unprofessional and unethical. I contacted istorage corporate and wasn’t offered any type of prorated compensation and was told that they had no idea of this incident, but they were certain that this must have happened in the past couple of days. ?? ????… I did some investigating and found out that this happened in June, and it is now September. The facility is obviously not concerned, nor do they care about notifying anyone renting from them, that they are being taken advantage of and being lied to, without verbally being lied to. I’m looking forward to hearing some bogus excuses, when I pay the office a visit tomorrow. This is utterly ridiculous and istorage owes everyone a solid explanation, not to mention discounted rates until they get the damages fixed. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

The facility at 7221 State Avenue offers 24/7 access, allowing you to visit your unit at your convenience.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At iStorage - 7221 State Avenue, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
