Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Michelle, the General Manager at the Public Storage location in Liberty, Missouri, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. The process of renting a storage unit can often be stressful, but Michelle made the entire experience seamless and incredibly easy. From start to finish, she was exceptionally helpful and demonstrated a deep knowledge of the facility and its processes. What truly sets Michelle apart, however, is her approach to service. She possesses a wonderfully energetic and colorful personality that makes a genuine difference in the customer experience. Her positivity is truly contagious, and it is clear that she takes great pride in her work and in ensuring her customers are well taken care of. Thank you, Michelle, for your outstanding professionalism and for making this such a stress-free experience. Public Storage is lucky to have you leading that team! ... Read more

I needed storage immediately on a Saturday morning at 8:30am. The online process for securing storage was easy and then I received a text telling me my unit was ready. When I got inside the storage area, the unit I was told was ready had a lock on it…which obviously means it’s not ready. Michelle had just arrived to the office and helped me work through this issue very quickly and got me into a unit with a smile and apology. Overall, it was a 5 star experience that could have easily been a 1 star if Michelle had not come in and saved the day. ... Read more

Michele made everything super easy. The price is pretty good compared to other storage places. Michelle keeps the place really clean and tidy and she runs a tight Ship. I would definitely recommend this place. Very easy to get in and out of. You can use your phone with Bluetooth to open the gates in the doors. They have plenty of carts inside that are complementary for you to use. elevators work good. And there’s a bathroom. ... Read more

Michelle is Amazing! Called today with concerns with being late this month, not only did she assure me that I won't get any late fees, she helped by readjusting the rent on my unit so its back to the rate I began at! So now instead of $119 its $88! She is a sweetheart and has been helpful since move in too. Always fun to talk with when I see her! ... Read more

Climate Controlled may not mean what you think it does UPDATE - 01/11/2026: Moved out and found additional mold on my stuff plus sediment at the bottom of my unit. This unit was on floor zero in a climate controlled interior unit. They didn't compensate me for the damage and just directed me to insurance. This was absolutely their fault and something they need to work on. There was sediment throughout the floor in front of other units that makes it look like there was some sort of water intrusion into the building. UPDATE - 11/05/2025: After months of silence and leaving this review, a district manager (Rachel) finally contacted me following a survey I completed. Their offer: 3 months free rent. No compensation for the actual damaged belongings. Critical information for potential customers: The facility claims their lease only covers "temperature control" - NOT humidity control. This means even if you're paying for what they market as "climate controlled" storage, mold can grow from humidity issues and they may claim no responsibility. They also stated their systems are "working as intended," which means the conditions that caused mold in my unit could happen to yours. The bigger issue: Three months of free rent doesn't help me when the unit can still grow mold and damage my belongings. They're offering to continue storing my items in the same conditions that caused the problem in the first place, with no actual solution or compensation for what was already damaged. When I mentioned pursuing small claims court, they immediately ended the conversation and stated they'll only communicate through their legal team going forward. My advice: Before renting here, carefully read your lease to see if it specifically mentions humidity control or only temperature control. Ask explicitly about mold prevention and get any promises in writing. "Climate controlled" may not mean what you think it means. I'm now reviewing my lease and considering legal options. [Previously] Climate Control Failure Caused Mold - No Response After Months I'm writing this review reluctantly, but after months of being ignored, I need to warn other customers. I pay extra for a climate-controlled unit specifically to protect my belongings from issues like mold. Despite this, I discovered significant mold growth in my unit due to inadequate humidity control. I reported this issue to management back in September, showed them the damage in person, and expected a follow-up about what went wrong and how it would be prevented. Instead, I've received complete radio silence - no call back, no email, no explanation, nothing. When I initially reported the problem, staff suggested I file an insurance claim. However, this damage occurred because the facility failed to provide the climate-controlled service I'm paying for. Why should my insurance rates increase because of their maintenance failure? I called again approximately 2 weeks ago to follow up. Still no answer, no return call. At this point, I'm left with: - Mold-damaged belongings - Ongoing charges for "climate control" that clearly isn't working - Zero accountability or communication from management - No resolution after multiple months and multiple attempts to reach them If you're considering storing valuable or sensitive items here, especially in a "climate-controlled" unit, be aware that the climate control may not actually work, and if something goes wrong, you may not get any response from management. ... Absolutely! Here’s a polished 5-star review you could post: --- ?????????? I had an amazing experience at Public Storage thanks to Michele! She was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. You can tell she genuinely cares about making things easy and stress-free. If you need storage space please save yourself endless amount of hassles and time. The gate locks, Bluetooth system, to the storage itself is a tremendous problem. This is SEVERAL TIMES, I tried to get into my unit after paying all the upfront fees and storage rental. Paid on the 31st of July and today is the 5th at noon. Still don't have access to my storage unit. How ridiculous is this? I guess I am just paying for them to keep the storage to themselves. Michelle was the person who did all the paperwork for us and told us we ready to move our stuff in immediately...Guess what? We rushed home to gather our stuff and brought it to the storage to take in our stuff to find the unit was LOCKED. The only key that can be unlocked is in the hands of the property manager who gave us the unit number and gave us false hopes. Not to say we got locked out of the back gate until someone else came to unlock the gate from outside. We wouldn't know that there is a keypad to manually unlock from inside after they advertise Bluetooth unlock. So we came back the next day to get ahold of Michelle to unlock our storage unit. Then rushed home again to get stuff to come back 2 days later to find out our storage got LOCKED again with their yellow lock that can only be unlocked by property manager. So again we had to come back today around 12pm to find nobody was in the office to help unlock our PAID storage. I called and called then left voicemails, not a single call back. So long story short. Paid for our Unit to be locked out of it. How hysterical and dumb is this? Update: Storage clerk Michelle called back at 2pm after seeing a 1 star review which I will not removed as what I said was true not false information. Sorry, but not so sorry, there are many more of us who have been locked out behind gates due to the bluetooth problem. Also, I get that we didnt want to lock our unit back up until we get our own lock. Instead of locking it back up with the yellow lock, use one of the red or purple ziptides like the other empty units. Not necessarily have to put an actual yellow lock that only access by the property manager. So inconvenient for no apparent reason. The limited hours of HUMAN availability for office hours need to be updated properly to avoid more inconveniences. You can't run a business without giving correct times of operations, it's very misleading as many of us still need HUMAN assistance rather than an app or few emails. So again, I will not remove my Truthful review unless I see improvements. Also, please stop asking people to give positive reviews if the negatives overcome the positive. ... Read more

Michelle was awesome! The facilities were clean, comfortable, and easy to use. My app had trouble the first day with the in app access feature but after the first day, it worked perfect every time. Just might have to manually enter the code day one. Not a biggie. Amanda has been nothing but extremely helpful. We reserved our unit online based off the approximate square footage and dimensions. When arriving to the facility we were walked to our unit and given a chance to voice any concerns. Amanda worked with us to find a unit that fit our needs and was transparent regarding online pricing vs switching units at the physical location price to give us the best option overall. While the location is new, it does appear to be maintained well and kept clean. Carts and elevators make moving items a breeze and the Bluetooth entry is much easier than only having a key code. Very highly recommend! ... Read more

Very clean units. Amanda was very friendly and helpful. I moved storage units from storage mart to public storage due to raise in price they wanted over 100.00 for a 5x5x10. Moved to public storage got a 10x10 for less. And with move in special easy access to outside unit. I would do recommend the place to everyone needing a unit. ... Read more

As a first-time client of Public Storage, I have found that Amanda has been a huge help regarding settling into my large, climate controlled storage unit. She has my back, and is always incredibly helpful, upbeat and a problem-solver. I highly recommend this newly developed storage facility. The location is very convenient - just off the interstate and near a ton of businesses. A few points of advice: 1) call the location first to see which units are available and where, but book your actual unit online to secure the cheapest rate, 2) ensure you know how to properly lock your unit, 3) prepare to be out of the facility (this includes any exterior gates) prior to 9PM, as the space is no longer accessible after 9PM, and 4) the restrooms are located on the main ground level (level 1). This Public Storage location is very clean. I am only a couple weeks into my experience, but thus far everything has been amazing! I am very thankful for such a helpful team at Public Storage + Amanda has been fantastic!!! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.

To open your storage unit door, start by unlocking it, whether it uses a traditional padlock or a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock. Once unlocked, grab the bottom handle and lift or pull up the roll-up door until it’s fully open.

If you’re using the unit for the first time, make sure the lock is properly removed before opening the door to avoid damage.

Security helps protect your belongings while they’re in storage and gives you peace of mind between visits. Many self storage facilities use a combination of features such as video surveillance, gated access, on-site management, and well-lit premises to help deter unauthorized access.

At Public Storage - 151 North Stewart Road, available security amenities may include Security Camera, Gate, Onsite Manager, designed to help keep your items protected.

Yes, most standard vehicles can be stored in self storage units. A 10x20 unit typically provides enough space for a car, while outdoor or designated parking areas may be available for larger vehicles.

For safety reasons, most self storage facilities restrict certain items. These commonly include:

    • Hazardous, flammable, or toxic materials
    • Perishable food
    • Live plants or animals
    • Cash, firearms, or irreplaceable valuables

Always check with the facility at 151 North Stewart Road for specific restrictions and recommendations.
