As a military widow with many, many years of experience renting storage units, I can't say enough good things about Albany Post Self Storage. This is an independently owned facility, and they go the extra mile for their clients. Prices are very competitive, there are security cameras all over the place and they keep it nice and clean. It's even a nice location full of trees and birds, easy in and out and nice wide lanes between the units. Love that I have access to my unit at any time and any questions or concerns are handled immediately and with courtesy and compassion. I have never waited more than a half hour to a response to any questions and I have been renting different units from them for over 16 years which tells you how happy I am. I read in another review that the mousetraps are a concern? I have never EVER used any storage that didn't have concern for such as you never know what people are bringing in or out and this is a lovely country setting. I found it to be very comforting to know that they are so proactive and spend time and resources to help protect their clients items. Believe me there are plenty of other places that don't really care one way or the other. I even had a unit in another place that I found dead lizards in as someone was storing them in their unit!! When I brought it up they said they can't monitor what other people do!? That would never happen here at Albany Post. The property is kept clean and clear and the gravel is maintained and level. I like that it keeps people from driving too fast as that is also a problem I have not experienced since moving into these units. I love supporting local businesses and when they are run like this place it's an absolute pleasure. I wish all my business dealings ran as smoothly and were handled with such good humor and concern. Highest rating and I've recommended them to friends, family and other military members new to the area and have always been thanked by them for doing so. Keep up the good work and thank you for all these years of service. ... Read more

I stoped by the other day during their listed hours to enquire about a possible unit. I want to point out that this was not right at the advertised start of the day. First thing we noticed when we pulled in was that the driveway was only paved at the entrance. Then the whole facility seemed to be gravel. This was not a deal breaker but not optimum either. Unless there is an office other than just a door that looked like it was the the office inside what could have been a storage unit. We didn't see it, and it was locked and dead bolted. Again during the listed hours of operation. There was no note saying they ran out for lunch or whatever. Nope, just the dead bolted door. Then when I looked around, I noticed large rodent traps outside pretty much all of the front facing buildings in multiple spots. This included the locked white door. There may be an explanation for such an abundance of these extermination devices. But I tend to go with the old saying, that where there's smoke, there is fire. So I didn't get the warm and fuzzy feelings. It is possible that an employee on site during the listed hours may have put me at ease with an explanation of any concerns one might have. But since there was no one, we were forced to move on to their competitors, where multiple facilities did have staff available during their listed hours. As such, we were chose to procure a unit at one of their competitors. I am not willing to give Albany Post Self Storage only one star because there could be explanations to my observations. But because you only get one chance to make a first impression. I cannot rate them any higher than two stars. And that's because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. ... Read more

The owner is easy to talk with and returns calls quickly. Wish I could give the place a higher rating but some of the tenants leave a lot to be desired. I made the mistake of being in a rush to get a unit and ended up between two units occupied by Hoarder! The units are filled with food apparently and mice haven. Once the snow melted, it became apparent quickly. Mice wanted to move into my unit; I moved out. My granddaughter has sever allergies and her health comes first. Edit: After posting this, I had further communication with the owner. He is a Wonderful Person to work with! Wish his tenants paid better attention to the rules and common courtesy. One of the Better Owners of a facility like this. ... Read more

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.
