After speaking to this company yesterday about renting I was informed that as long as I Amadeus it there by 4:00 today I could get the unit. I arrived at 3:20pm and they were closed. I knocked in hopes that I had just missed them and they could still help or maybe they locked while in bathroom. I was greeted by their property manager, an by greeted, I mean anything but a nice greeting.. He was literally the rudest man I have ever met, I am still in Aw over how I was spoken to.. when I tried to show him the confirmation email he screamed at me that is is his day off, and he is not helping me, and that they don’t need my business and I can take it elsewhere, with some curse words added along with it. When I asked for his name he slammed the door in my face. I would hope that this business reevaluates their choice in employee’s, and yes.. I took my business elsewhere.. I felt extremely unsafe in the situation the person I initially spoke to put me in… and I hope no woman is ever put in that threatening situation again.. ... Read more

Beware. I stored items here and the door to my unit wouldn't open. The manager came by to fix it without me there. He damaged thousands of dollars worth of stuff and I seem to be missing a sewing machine and playstation 4. Of course you store things at your own risk here as he claims he is not responsible for tearing up my things. Only store things here you don't care about. ... Read more

Found my storage unit locked for the 2nd time in 3 months because the “manager” that was in the position couldn’t figure out how to set up automatic payments apparently. Save yourself a headache and find another storage facility, ownership doesn’t appear to have a grasp on their business. ... Read more

After 2 years of being on automatic withdraw and never missing a payment my card was declined after being shut off due to unauthorized use by someone in another state. I called to let them know the bank was sending a new card. They said they would make a note in my account and that I could just call when I received my new card. Days later we were locked out of our unit with no warning. My husband uses this unit to store extra supplies for work so this was a huge inconvenience since no one was there to unlock it when he went to get something out. When I called management apologized, blamed it on a new employee that doesn’t work there anymore and unlocked the unit. We all caulked it up to miscommunication. I paid with a check that day since I had not received my new debit card. When the next months payment was due I called in a new debit card for the automatic withdraw. I thought we were good to go but the next month on the due date I got another call asking for payment. I asked why it wasn’t automatically withdrawn and she apologized saying the number must not have saved. I gave the card again and was assured it was fixed. It wasn’t. This time we only found out because they changed our code to get in and our unit had a lock on it again. I had a voicemail that day but was not given enough time to call back before my husband got there to see the unit was locked. He paid the same day. They even charged us $20 in late fees! We will be moving out to a new facility next month in hopes of getting a little more courtesy. This whole ordeal started with something that was out of my control. They were aware and managed to mismanage my updated payment several times, locking us out of the unit when we shouldn’t have been and charged us late fees as if it was our fault. I would recommend going somewhere else. We have found a new unit that is the same size just as convenient and we are paying $30 less a month. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Guardian West Self Storage - 2701 Lyons Road has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and Credit Cards Accepted. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
