Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 1601 East Belt Line Road, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

After unsuccessfully finding any employee over the weekend despite coming during office hours, I set an appointment with the location manager at 5pm, no biggie. I leave work early, get here 15min early, and no one is here. No biggie, I wait, I call, no one answers, no one comes. 5pm…5:10..5:20…5:30… I call customer services, they can’t get in touch with them. I don’t think the location manager is here. When I set up the appointment the assistant said they “were on and off the property.” So idk if they ever show up ????? 5:45pm and still no one. ... Read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Public Storage in Dallas. On January 23rd and 24th, we had a severe snowstorm. Because of the weather, it was not safe to move my belongings on the 24th and 25th. I also work two jobs and return home at 9:30 PM every day, which made it even more difficult to reschedule immediately. My move-out date was January 31st. I respectfully asked the sales associate if I could have just one extra day, until February 1st, to complete my move due to the snowstorm. I was told that if I moved out on February 1st, I would be charged for the entire month. I asked to speak with the Manager or District Manager, hoping for some understanding. Unfortunately, I received the same response — no flexibility, and I would still be charged for a full month. I previously rented with Extra Space Storage in Weatherford, and they provided a five-day grace period even when the weather was clear and sunny. That experience showed consideration for customers. At this location, I felt that customer service was not a priority. There was no empathy or willingness to help during a difficult situation. The staff was not friendly or understanding. When a customer is facing bad weather and personal challenges, there should be some level of flexibility and basic courtesy. This experience has been very frustrating and disappointing. I hope management seriously reviews how they treat their customers in situations like this. “Because of this experience, I cannot recommend Public Storage to others.” ... Read more

GO TO EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. We were gonna get a unit here We attempted to rent a storage unit here same day and had a U-Haul full of belongings, planning to get a small unit. Online, it showed the office was open, but when we arrived no one was there. We called customer service for help completing the reservation and were told they couldn’t assist us and that we had to contact the office directly. We called the office multiple times and no one answered. It’s frustrating to be listed as open when there’s no staff available and no way to complete a rental in person or by phone. Because of this, we went to Extra Space Storage just four minutes down the road, and the experience was completely different. There was a kiosk, and within minutes someone contacted us via video call and walked us through the entire process. It took about 15–20 minutes total, and we were able to get a unit immediately with no issues. If you’re deciding between Public Storage and nearby options, I highly recommend going with Extra Space Storage instead. The process was far more efficient and convenient. ... Read more

***Updated post**** I returned to the property this morning 8am and still my gate code doesn’t work it states the property is closed when the website and property state it is opened at 6am. This is ridiculous, no one is onsite and there is no customer service. I went to the storage at 8pm and I got locked in when the website and property state it closes at 9pm. I had to call 911 and they sent the fire department who was luckily able to get me out. Destiny was courteous and provided comprehensive information regarding my storage unit. As a first-time renter of a storage unit, Destiny facilitated a seamless and efficient process. I will certainly recommend this property to my friends and family. ... Read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went Tuesday 8/5/25 to check on my unit since I would be moving 8/8/25. Mind you, I’ve only been renting since January & noticed an issue with rats but assumed it was a one off situation… well I was wrong! My unit was infested with RATS! I had rat poop and a died mummified rat in my unit. My couch, clothes, rug, and multiple others completely ruined. I went to the office and it was locked! Once the “manager” noticed me she did open the door but appeared to be completed disengaged. I informed her of the issue and she referred me to the insurance claim information (which only covers $250). Now let’s talk about my biggest issue now, the District Manager, Ty Ashcraft. The manager claims she emailed him Tuesday for a rent reimbursement for the prior 2 months and I should hear from him the following day. By 2pm Wednesday, no call. I called him and left a voicemail. Thursday, no call. Left another voicemail. Friday, I moved out and spoke with the manager again, who informed me they were waiting for “higher ups” to approve the refund. I informed the manager I was STILL waiting on a call from her DM and she said she would text him to call me… now Friday 8:21pm and still no call! I would expect more, especially given I was paying for a climate controlled indoor unit and lost a large amount of my items. A simple apology for the inconvenience would be great but I’ve yet to even receive that. Public Storage Coppell, please do better. And others please avoid renting her, you will regret it! ... If you’re considering storing your belongings here, PLEASE take heed to the other reviews—I wish I had. There's rat droppings everywhere!! This location has a serious rat and bedbug infestation, and trying to get in contact with anyone is nearly impossible. I just removed my furniture from storage, and despite being properly wrapped, everything was infested with bedbugs. I had to file a claim through their third-party insurance, which, thankfully, has been responsive. However, the property manager has been difficult to reach, and there seems to be little accountability from Public Storage itself. Also, be aware that rat/vermin coverage only applies to $250 worth of your property—which barely covers anything when dealing with extensive damage. This entire property needs to be shut down and properly treated. If you value your furniture and peace of mind, look elsewhere. ... Read more

Filled with rats. Nobody is ever in the office. I came back about a month after putting my stuff in storage and the rats hat torn apart a basket and burrowed into the couch and mattress. I was honestly okay with the idea that after leaving my stuff in storage there might be some animal damage, but my furniture was RUINED after a month. I put traps and poison in my own unit to try to mitigate the damage, but that doesn’t do much when the entire unit block is filled with rats. When mentioned to the property manager she said something about me needing to come in and check the unit more often, which would make sense if it were just a few rats, but what am I supposed to do? Come in and check the unit and fight the packs of rats off with a broom? Like, what? I was paying rent for the rats for a year ?? I didn’t realize that by renting a unit I was also responsible for removing pests from the whole property (which is the only possible way to have protected my things it seems). Disgusting ... Monika was so helpful for my move out and the multiple visits I would make. Always wanting to make sure that if there was anything she could help us out with just to let her know. Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.
