Michael at Public Storage 2055 Mercator Drive, Reston, VA is very reliable and responsive. He is personal and outgoing. Perhaps even more important is his outstanding professional performance, thoughtfulness, concern and compassion for his/your patrons. In service businesses of every size and description, the priority today is to continuously and carefully listen to customers, understand what they are saying as it applies to the business of serving them, and then respond creatively to what they tell you. These are Mike's common traits! He also has the ability to display a degree of caring while providing individual attention to his customers. His service is the 'gold standard' for Public Storage's specific services. I was very fortunate to have been associated with his service. It felt as though I had won the lottery with my experience with him! Robert J. CAPT, USN (Ret) ... Read more

Great place for storage. I've been storing at this location for 3 years and Terry the property manager is awesome. Great customer service, the place is kept clean and well maintained. I dont know how he does it all by himself. A true testament to who he is as a person and an employee. This storage location is in a perfect area, which is off the beaten path a bit, so it's safe and its away from a bunch of restaurants, so there are no problems with rodents. One of the best locations in the area and I highly recommend. ... Read more

I used storage at the public storage for couple of months. The check-in and check-out process was super smooth. The facility is well maintained. You maintain everything via app. Absolutely no problem with mites or rodents. Staff was super helpful, polite and courteous. 10/10 would recommend this. ... Read more

The management is obscene and you will never be able to speak to someone on the phone. Reston public storage sustained a leak and my items all got water damage. Reston public storage neither compensated me nor apologized or provided a solution. No one helped move the items that were molding due to damage and even though I was located across the country they refused to make accommodations. My items are siting in a wet storage unit and I have no solution for moving them. I will have to pay movers myself to avoid further damage. ... Read more

I rented a 10x20 in Sterling, at the 47038 Harry Byrd Hwy for a couple years. The manager there is great, very efficient and kind. He was ready to help anytime I needed it. Great experience. The only reason I left it’s because it got really expensive. ... Read more

I had a wonderful experienceand highly recommend it to anyone in need of reliable storage. The convenience of having 24/7 access to my unit is a game-changer, and the ability to manage everything through their app makes it incredibly easy. Whether it's the heat of summer or the chill of winter, I love that they have HVAC systems in place to maintain the ideal climate for my belongings. Plus, it's reassuring to know that there's always someone available to assist with any questions I might have. Overall, a fantastic service that I can always count on whenever I need it! ... This location is by far the best location I've been to in the area. Terry, the property managery here, knows his information and does his very best to help the customers and he works hard to keep the place clean. You can tell he takes pride in his work. I highly recommend this location. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
