Disappointing Experience — Ongoing Issues with No Accountability Unfortunately, my experience with Public Self Storage has been far from reliable. The elevator is frequently out of service, which means that if your unit is upstairs, you may not be able to access it for days or weeks at a time. What’s even more frustrating is the complete lack of communication from management or ownership. There are no updates, no returned calls, and no courtesy messages to inform tenants about what’s going on or when it will be resolved. When you’re storing important items and depending on access, this level of neglect is simply unacceptable. ... Read more

We were given keys to one storage, loaded all of our belongings in it. Now when we returned a month later to put more in it we were told that the unit is already rented out and that we had a totally new unit, and none of our stuff is there and they have no clue where it is. I showed the guy up front the map where the worker with the initials LC gave us to put our belongings along with the keys. And he says he doesn't know who it is and to make a report. So basically they stole everything in our storage unit and couldn't even show us footage of who's been in it. I will never go through these theives again. ... Read more

Feel like I was just freed from an abusive landlord. Public Storage shows you reasonable, affordable rates when you sign up and then constantly increases it once you're locked in with your stuff moved in. My rate nearly DOUBLED within 2 years. They also double charged me, I called and called and got no call back, so I cancelled my unit. I finally get someone on the phone and they say they're keeping my double charge now because I cancelled my account 3 days into the next month. After paying them in total for over 4 years. Zero customer service. Predatory business, never again. ... Read more

The store manager, Kassie Sharp is her name I believe, gave the best customer service I have ever had at a storage unit facility. To be honest, Kassie went above and beyond by assisting me with whatever we needed. She should be commended for her hard work and dedication to this job, because if she is not, I’ll try to steal her away for my business. ... Read more

When searching for a convenient and low-priced storage place, for my mom moving into town, we decided to visit the public storage off IH35. I was pleasantly surprised at how professional and friendly the lady at the front desk was. I have rented storage from public storage many years ago at a different location and it was never open and no one was ever there. Loren was not only present but gave us a very detailed tour along with informing us of the best methods to use when in need of assistance. She is a gem! She made us feel welcomed and valued. I wish she was around years ago when I rented my storage! ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
