Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 401 South Pickett Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

This company is controlled by a computerized system. I was transferring from a larger unit to a smaller unit but had to cancel the larger one and then make a new reservation for the smaller one. The computerized system randomly assigned me a unit far away in another building when there was the same size unit in the same building. Their "customer service" reps could do nothing to change the location of my new unit. The on-site office did their best to help me but couldn't override the corporate system. I spent extra money for the move because it was in another building. Also spent lots of time on the phone trying to resolve the issue which turned out to be impossible to do. I would never use this company again! ... Read more

Just moved in, can't wait to move out! There are no carts available. The only one that's on the property is locked up. There appears to be minimal security on this place—only the driveway gate and a couple of cameras that may or may not work—so don't wanna come here at night. Definitely wouldn't want extended hours here. But most importantly, the staff are super rude. Arrived mid morning and couldn't get the door up that goes to the inside storage facilities. Even scraped my fingers trying to get the latch open. Went to get the property manager and was made to wait for several minutes while she went to do who knows what. There were no other customers on the property. She got the latch open, but didn't say anything just walked away before I could even get out of my vehicle. I would've thanked her for her help, but she walked away without even letting me know she had opened the latch. At first I thought maybe she was going to get tools but then I realized the bolt was moved. I came back this evening after dark and a car turns into the driveway in front of me but the pulls off to the side until I go past. Then this car pulls behind me at the gate, which is super sketchy, so that I have to open up the gate. I use the app to open the gate, but I don't want to let some unknown vehicle in after me. Especially one that’s acting very suspicious. It's a deserted place and I'm concerned about my safety. Turns out it's the same employee. She comes up and identifies herself (the vehicle is not marked and she’s wearing a winter coat so I don’t see her lapel insignia right away but as soon as I realize it’s an employee, I move forward so she can get in. No problem as long as I know it’s an employee. This is also after office hours are long over so it being an employee is not who I’m expecting). But she then comes and asked my unit number to put in a complaint for me because I wouldn't let her in the gate. I did as soon as I realized she was an employee, but I'm sorry I don't want to let somebody I don't know into the property behind me without their own access code. That's a safety issue. All the other Public Storage say don't open the doors for others, don’t let other people in—and this employee is upset because I don't wanna let some unknown car in behind me. Any complaint on me is unfounded, but I'm already going to look for a new place to rent. Also, the latch only fit a specific size of locks and I don't know if they'll let me trade for the locks I already have that have worked for every other Public Storage unit. ... Read more

Lack of communication from the property manager. When asking for a simple form, the person who answered the phone said “yeah I told the property manager.” I’ve done this 3x in the past 2 months. Where is the district manager? This location is the absolute worst and the staff is so incompetent they can’t even send a simple email with an attachment. The building is run down and does not have AC. The floors are filthy and gate was left open so your storage isn’t secure. ... Read more

I had an excellent experience at this Public Storage location, thanks to the amazing manager, Milka. She was extremely professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. From the moment I walked in, she made the entire process smooth and stress-free. The storage units are spotless, well-maintained, and very secure. You can tell Milka takes great pride in keeping everything clean and organized. If you’re looking for a storage place that’s both reliable and managed with care, I highly recommend this location and especially Milka. She truly goes above and beyond! ... Read more

I had a very pleasant experience with Ms. Milka on 2 June 25. I haven't previously rented from Public Storage and was unfamiliar with my facility's location. My GPS incorrectly gave directions to the 401 South Pickett location, and after unsuccessfully attempting gate entry for several minutes, Ms. Milka saw that I was having trouble and graciously offered to help me, although she had recently clocked out. She pulled up my information and gave me the correct address. I appreciate her kind act. Thank you, Ms. Milka, and may God bless you. ... Read more

I recently rented 3 units at 401 S Pickett Street. The customer service received from Milka has been simply outstanding. I had many questions and Milka was simply wonderful to work with. She helped find the right size storage units and ensured that I was completely satisfied and ready for my household goods to be received. She truly epitomizes excellent customer service, professionalism, and takes pride in her work! I am very thankful for her assistance. ... Read more

They do not answer their phones or return messages. They’ve had a broken elevator in the unit for the better part of a month preventing people from storing or retrieving large items. Ridiculous. Edit: A reply from the business here but they still haven’t picked up the phone or responded to my messages. I need to move out by tomorrow and still don’t know when they plan on having the elevator fixed. How about calling me back instead of an empty response here please. ... Read more

Milka is 100% the only reason my wife and I continue to use this place. There's is no problem she doesn't offer a solution for even when we needed to change units to a bigger one, or when the unit next to us was leaving trash in front of our door she made sure it was cleaned and taken care of and we haven't had any issues long once she gets involved. She's never rude or disrespectful and always has such a calm demeanor to herself. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 401 South Pickett Street has to offer. These amenities include Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Public Storage - 401 South Pickett Street can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 300 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Public Storage - 401 South Pickett Street come at a variety of prices, starting from $75 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $706 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
