Jessica is a beautiful soul, she was so helpful, made this experience go as smoothly as possible, even though she had a difficult customer right before I got there. She kept on keeping on, I told her God's got her back, Thank full for how easy and smoothly she took care of my storage rental for me. So grateful thank you Jessica ... Read more

This place might have been great in the past, but it isn't so much any more. I've been paying for a climate controlled unit, but for what seems to be months now the A/C has not worked in our section. The last temp reading I took was 92º on a hot day. I pay for climate control for a reason. I talked with the office and they acknowledged the situation and said a call had been put in for service a long time ago, but had no time frame for fix. With the A/C not working the units were starting to get pretty musty too. I found some mold on one of the pieces I was keeping in there. Then on top of all of this, I got an email last month saying my rates would be going up $20/month! I wasn't even getting what I was paying for and now they want more. Time to move. When I moved out this last weekend my daughter had to use the bathroom...it too was out of order. There are better options in the area than Public Storage. ... Read more

I’ve had a great experience at this Public Storage location thanks to Jessica, the property manager. She’s professional, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to help. From the first time I came in, she made the process simple and stress-free by answering all my questions and walking me through everything clearly. She’s easy to reach if I ever need assistance, and I can tell she truly cares about keeping the property clean, safe, and well-run. It’s rare to find customer service this genuine, and Jessica really makes a difference. Highly recommend this location! ... Read more

This review is specifically for the Battlefield location in Chesapeake, VA. The process and customer service leading up to our rental was smooth and satisfactory. However, when we moved our stuff after maybe a total of 6 months, our boxes were inundated with roaches. There were also mouse droppings. I understand this is an outdoor non-climate controlled facility, HOWEVER the CEO of Public Storage makes 9.5M. Maybe invest in pest control? This was excessive. They were climbing out of our boxes! That is disgusting. ... Read more

Day 1, gate code didn't work. Two unanswered voice mails plus 2 visits later to gain access. Why? Apparently the gate app doesn't work. When I was finally able to get to my designated spot i discovered that the adjacent trailer is parked partially in my assigned location rendering the spot unusable. The clerk was unable to help except to say come back tomorrow. Ok, so is this Oz? I arrived the following morning, panicked as I was on my way to pick up a trailer & needed to be able to park it asap. The clerk assigned a new spot. Talk about skid row, the area looks like a salvage yard...so much for the requirements that vehicles must be in working order as most had flats. And the 'new' spot has no visible lines or location markers so I had to guess that I was not only in the correct location but that I was not in the adjacent spot. Yeah, not even close to the pictures on the Public Storage website. To top things off, despite the failure of the staff to ensure the original location was usable, I was CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL FEE TO MOVE FROM AN UNUSABLE LOCATION! 0 stars, I prepaid a month but am already looking for a new rental space. Perhaps the 428 location is ok but the 429 annex across the street is terrible! ... Read more

Jessica was amazing at getting us set up and arranging what we needed. My only complaint is we are in the back corner section and its really tight to get a moving truck back there. A lot of people park their cars and boats at the front and back of this group of units and we found it easier to go down to the bottom and turn and come back up to our unit. Do-able but you need to know how to drive a truck to do it. For a car, it would be no problem. ... Read more

I’ve only had my belongings in Unit 272 for a couple of days, and I’ve already encountered a large cockroach or water bug inside my storage unit. Unfortunately, it disappeared before I could deal with it. This has made me extremely uncomfortable with keeping my things here, especially considering the possibility of bugs getting into my belongings or laying eggs. I’m not confident that this facility is properly maintained, and I’ll be removing my items as soon as possible. Very disappointed. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a wide array of amenities available for the storage units that Public Storage - 428 Battlefield Blvd North has to offer. These amenities include Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Most of these amenities can prove to be very useful depending on what you need to store. For example, climate-controlled units can come in handy for keeping sensitive items, drive-up access can make your loading and unloading process easier, and extra security measures will ensure your items are kept safe at all times.

The storage units offered by Public Storage - 428 Battlefield Blvd North can satisfy all of your storage needs. Different sizes here range from 25 to 300 square feet. You can go for smaller units if you don't have a lot of items to store, while choosing a larger space is recommended in case you need to store a lot of furniture, bigger items or even vehicles.

The unit size that you should choose obviously depends on how much stuff you need to store. On the one hand, you should think of smaller units (5'x5' or 5'x10') as closets – they can be used to store chairs, lamps, moving boxes and sports equipment, along with smaller pieces of furniture, books and documents.

On the other hand, the 10'x10' and 10'x15' spaces are good for storing larger items of furniture, bicycles and a larger number of possessions. If you need even more space, then 10'x20' and 10'x30' units can easily accommodate the contents of an entire 3- or 4-bedroom house.

Storage units offered by Public Storage - 428 Battlefield Blvd North come at a variety of prices, starting from $48 per month for typically smaller units. However, larger spaces can set you back up to $190 a month.

We know that when it comes to self storage, there is nothing more important than quickness and accessibility. Drive-up access is an extremely convenient amenity, as you can park your vehicle right next to your unit, making it significantly easier to load and unload the items you will use storage for. However, drive-up storage units tend to be outdoors, so you might consider indoor storage spaces with climate control if you're looking to keep temperature-sensitive items in peak condition.

Yes, you might, depending on what you need to put in storage. Climate-controlled spaces keep temperatures and humidity levels consistent all the time, which means they are perfect for storing sensitive items. Seeing that a whole host of things can be damaged by varying temperatures and excessive moisture, many people choose to rent climate-controlled units for personal items such as documents, photographs, paintings, collectibles, electronics, wooden furniture, antiques and even vehicles. If you're looking to store such items that are valuable to you, consider renting a climate-controlled unit!
