Not sure what happened aside from reading other reviews to see there is basically no employee here any longer. Digital lock unit app no longer works, and leaving a voicemail for a call back is a joke - I’ve been waiting for weeks, and left several messages. My things are hostage at this point, but they’re certainly quick to process that rent payment! If you’re reading this, I’d recommend any other place but this one. ... Read more

I have a storage unit here. It’s good, but there’s never a human being there and carts are sometimes hard to find. I tried to change my unit to a larger one, but that proved to be too much trouble. I gave up with the phone calls and trying to do it. It’s taken care by a management company that just didn’t want to take the time for me. More like it had to convenience them to do it. Stupid. ... Read more

We have rented many spaces here for years. We currently have two spaces. In the parking lot someone almost hit us because they were speeding. We had a truck and trailer and had to slam on brakes. We did honk the horn and I took a picture of the tag because the woman’s driving was so scary I thought we might need the tag to tell the police about possible drinking and driving. But that is all. We left them alone and went to do another load with our trailer. Apparently she might be a new hire. I know this because the woman who works there by the name of Chey came out with the bad driver and three others. She then proceeded to ask us a lot of personal questions about why we were there and what we were doing etc in front of strangers and her bad driver trainee. They followed us around. Took pictures of us as well as videos and were gossiping the entire time. She was speeding. She didn’t look before turning. That’s a 100% fact. Pull up the cameras. So I don’t know if she somehow turned the story on us to have something to bond with her maybe new boss but the whole experience was so bad we are about to call corporate. This was unacceptable. Made my whole family and I feel in danger when someone almost hit US. They stalked us, talked about us and then asked us personal questions. We will be looking to clear out our second storage unit here as fast as possible because it is now an unsafe space for our family to be. Dialing corporate. ... Read more

I have called twice about issues and never gotten a return call. Today, it was about safety and the intense smell of fuel inside the building. Other tenants moving out noticed it also. Apparently, there is no property manager at this location and you need to schedule appointments to see or speak to anyone, even in situations like this. I can't understand how every other storage facility in the area can have regular business hours with someone on site every day and Public Storage (at this prime location) can't! In situations like this, there should be a sense of urgency. ... Read more

They lied about getting my money back for their overpriced lock. They also do not do pro-rated amounts, so you are paying for the full month whether you use one day or thirty. They also overcharged me twice. Clean inside but not worth the hassle. ... Read more

My experience did not start out good. I had an appointment at 5pm to tour a storage unit. When I went to the door it was locked and my husband and I waited outside for 10 minutes banging on the door. I knew that they weren’t closed because somebody had called to confirm my appointment and even told me they would be there until 6pm. Once the employee opened the door she did not apologize for the delay or anything. I give two stars because the tour was good and the units looked clean and well cared for. We will most likely still be renting a storage space here but please do better with your customer service. ... Read more

Leaving the one star solely because the units are clean. Before renting a storage unit, ask yourself, do you value reasonable rates comparable with the area? If so, this business is not for you. I started at a sub $100 rate 2 years ago (great) and was told last week that my rate would be going to $180. Last year, I was hiked to $140. When I asked about the rates and if there was anything they could do, I was told “this business does not value long term tenants. The best I can do is reduce your rate back to your original rate for a month while you find something else”. Aside from the ludicrous pricing, it is near impossible to get anyone on the phone for customer service. To those looking for a storage unit, I implore you to do your research. There are several other places in Roanoke and the NRV that offer climate controlled storage units that do not price hike like this business. Happy to be taking my business elsewhere. ... Read more

    Frequently Asked Questions

The right storage unit size depends on what you plan to store and how much space you need to move around your items.

5x5 or 5x10 units are great for smaller loads, such as chairs, lamps, small furniture pieces, boxes, books, and documents.

10x10 or 10x15 units work well for larger furniture, bicycles, appliances, and the contents of a small apartment.

10x20 or 10x30 units can typically fit the contents of a three-bedroom home, including large furniture and multiple appliances.

If you’re unsure which size is best, a unit size calculator can help estimate the right fit based on the items you’re planning to store – helping you avoid paying for more space than you need.

Climate-controlled storage units maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels, helping protect items from damage caused by heat, cold, or excess moisture.

You may want climate control if you’re storing items that can be sensitive to temperature changes, such as furniture, clothing, appliances, paperwork, photographs, artwork, electronics, or wood and leather goods. These units are especially useful for long-term storage or in areas with hot summers, cold winters, or high humidity.

If you’re storing durable items like tools or outdoor gear, a standard unit may be sufficient. When in doubt, climate control offers added protection and peace of mind.
